Asian Contemporary Artist Solo Exhibition Series Ⅱ
Atul Dodiya—Bombay: Labyrinth/Laboratory

Exhibition

Flyer of Atul Dodiya exhibition

The second entry in the “Asian Contemporary Artist Solo Exhibition Series,” this exhibition of Indian artist Atul Dodiya’s work was curated by the Mumbai-based art critic Ranjit Hoskote. The exhibition explored the keywords “labyrinth” (evoking a sense of fear and danger) and “laboratory” (something that is seemingly filled with hidden possibilities) in the facets of the cities depicted in Dodiya’s artworks. As a model demonstrating the psychological effects of the city in a spatial way, representative artworks since the 1990s were exhibited, along with Dodiya’s latest shutter paintings, gates, and ladders, seemingly transforming the venue into a Mumbai (formerly Bombay) film set.
